Job Clarification:
The State University of New York at Fredonia, Section of Visual Arts and New Media (VANM) seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor within the Blitheness & Analogy program. The VANM department offers ix degrees, ii BAs (Art History and Visual Arts & New Media), and seven area-specific BFAs (Blitheness & Illustration, Ceramics, Drawing & Painting, Moving-picture show + Video Arts, Graphic Design, Photography, Sculpture). The qualified candidate will join the VANM faculty and aid shape the future of the Animation & Illustration program and department.
We seek animators and artists whose piece of work and pedagogy explore the broad range and possibilities of the animation and analogy disciplines. Preference will exist given to applicants whose work is collaborative, interdisciplinary, and/or experimental.

Fundamental RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will guide the Animation & Illustration BFA plan into the future, continuing its growth and expanding cross-discipline interactions within and outside of the department with a clear vision. The selected candidate will teach 3 courses per semester in Animation and Analogy, continue and maintain professional and creative endeavors, and develop the programme'southward curriculum to best run across the students' and department'due south needs.
Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will:
- Teach courses in Animation and Analogy for BFA and BA undergraduates;
- Work with contingent faculty in the surface area to provide the needed resource and expected learning outcomes;
- Contribute to curriculum development and refinement within the Animation and Illustration plan;
- Continue scholarly and creative inquiry;
- Provide academic advising to students and share in administrative duties as needed;
- Participate in departmental governance, recruitment, and university service;
- Be aware of, empathise, and follow all academy policies.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- MFA or terminal degree in the arts;
- Expertise with traditional and digital illustration techniques and 2nd and 3D blitheness;
- Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and evaluate courses, projects, and assignments;
- Demonstrated engagement with animation and illustration disciplines, technologies, and trends;
- Proficiency with at least three of the following: Adobe Creative Cloud, Traditional media (ink, watercolor, etc.), digital illustration techniques, Procreate, Dragon Frame stop motility software, Movie theatre 4D or Maya, Zbrush, Toon Smash Harmony, or similar software;
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to piece of work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in back up of equity and inclusivity.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate level;
- Stiff organizational skills;
- Stiff analog cartoon skills;
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject'due south relationship to fine art history;
- Interest in lawmaking-based animation and experimental blitheness techniques;
- Demonstrated experience in industries related to animation and/or illustration;
- Interest in, and commitment to, community date.
Additional Data:
This is a full-time, term appointed, tenure rails, UUP represented position start in Autumn 2022.
